"Witcha gonna do when they come for you?" Love Bath!

Love Baths

One of my very favorite things to do when I am feeling down on myself is to take a love bath. Love baths are great, because they can raise your spirits and your energy. After a bad day at law school or work, these magickal baths can turn everything around. Don’t fret if you don’t have all the ingredients there are a lot of good substitutes for most of these ingredients. I will put them in parentheses.

A synopsis of ingredients:

Rose quartz. The stone of universal love, which makes it the perfect addition to our bath. It opens and cleanses the heart to promote self-love. You may want to consider morganite, which is a crystal that encompasses unconditional love. I got a big batch of rose quartz from amazon.com for relatively cheap (and they are real!)

.

Pink candle. This color signifies compassion, nurturing, and love. It promotes understanding of oneself and others. Ideally, you will want to use a pink candle. However, you can substitute it with red if you are doing your love bath to get more passion. I personally get my candles on Amazon purely out of convenience. You do need to charge and cleanse them under the moonlight regardless of where you get them. There is a stigma among witches that ordering off Amazon somehow degrades your magic. My spells work great, so to each their own.

Rose Incense. Known for its powerful output of love it also grants protection and healing. Dealing with life can have us unbalanced so having an ingredient that allows for protection makes this item perfect for our purposes. If you are feeling stressed, I recommend using a lavender incense instead. Lavender has many calming properties and is known also for its ability to flourish introspection. Alternatively, you can use jasmine incense. This has a more spiritual nature, so if you are looking for something to that effect, she is your gal.

Epsom Salt. This just makes you feel relaxed so I always include it in my baths. You can also consider using rose, lavender, jasmine, or vanilla bath salts. Entirely up to you.

Vanilla Essential Oil. Vanilla inspires us to love, and what better time for inspiration like when you’re down in the dumps? There isn’t a good substitute for this. It is just so perfect, I would hate to detract from the spell. Vanilla is important. Don’t skip out on it. “But, Madeline, where do I acquire it?” My personal favorite is from Young Living Essential Oils, but it can get rather expensive and it is usually out of stock because it is beyond amazing. Alternatively, you can get it (of course) on my favorite website, Amazon. Be forewarned. There are a lot of sellers on Amazon and not all of them have a quality product. Look for things like “diluted with unpronounceable toxic chemicals,” “All natural,” “organic.” Do not buy these. There are 100% essential oils available on Amazon, but they are pretty difficult to find. You may instead opt for an oil diluted with jojoba, almond, argan or even olive oil. Check the ratios. A 50/50 ratio will be half carrier oil and half vanilla oil. Anything that is not 100% will have you adding more (not a bad thing).

Rose Essential Oil. Same properties as the rose incense. Same purchasing recommendations. Can forego. Can substitute with yarrow (pretty sure it isn’t an oil, but you can use the flowers!)

Jasmine Essential Oil. Same properties as the jasmine incense. Same purchasing recommendations. Can substitute with rose (funny).

Love Bath

Ingredients:

  1. 4 good size chunks of rose quartz (morganite)

  2. Pink pillar candle (Red pillar candle)

  3. Rose incense (lavender or jasmine)

  4. 2-4 cups of epsom salt

  5. Vanilla essential oil

  6. Rose essential oil (Yarrow flowers)

  7. Jasmine essential oil (Rose oil)

  8. An affirmation

  9. An open mind

Instructions:

  1. Cleanse and Ground.

  2. Place the 4 crystals on the corners of your bath.

  3. Draw your bath to a soothing temperature (scalding is not an option unless you want to look like a burn victim from V for Vendetta)

  4. Light your candle and incense.

  5. Add the salt and the three oils to the bath to your witchy heart’s content.

  6. Write down your affirmation. It can be something like “You is kind, you is smart. You is important” (Shoutout to a great movie, the Help)

  7. Commit it to memory.

  8. Turn off the lights.

  9. Get in the tub.

  10. Relax and find your center.

  11. Open your chakras or just focus on your sacral chakra for physical love, your solar plexus chakra for universal love, or your heart chakra for unconditional love. Basically, whatever you want, but choose something on which to focus or do them all for a more wholesome approach.

  12. Meditate on the qualities you love about yourself. When the negativity fish or anxiety parana rear their ugly heads (because hey, we are human and they will) use your energy to direct them into the water. Do this until there are no more thoughts. This gets easier the more you practice. Try taking this bath at least once a week.

  13. Repeat your affirmation aloud and with power.

  14. Drain the tub, but stick around for the grand finale and watch that fish and parana literally go down the drain. If done correctly, you will experience a slight head rush.

  15. Snuff (don’t blow) the candle. Save for future use.

Estimated Time: 40 minutes

Tips:

  • You can throw in some rose petals

  • This takes practice and is a well-sized energy manipulation so do not be discouraged if it doesn’t work the first couple of times. It is a mindset game. If you don’t believe in your affirmation it won’t manifest for you.

  • You can create a sigil or use an existing rune to carve onto the candle

  • I recommend a large pillar candle so you can harness your energy and store it for when you want to do the spell again

  • Write your affirmation and put it somewhere you will see it everyday.

  • This can be modified for shower use by rubbing the essential oils on yourself.

As always, thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you do in the comments. I want to hear results! Feel free to message me on the chat option if you want more advice.

Love and Learning,

Madeline XOXO
