Bibliomancy

Everyone loves a good book, at least I do. Besides sitting down with a good book, I really enjoy divination, which makes bibliomancy the perfect divination tool for me. In a nutshell, bibliomancy is the using of a text to divine truth. You can use any book, but make sure it has meaning to you. It can be Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, Stop Doing That Shit by Gary John Bishop, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordan B. Peterson, Game of Thrones by George R. Martin (these are some of my favorite books), or really any book that has given your life purpose. For our purposes today, we will be using the Bible. After all, I am a Christian witch!

Why Bibliomancy?

I mean what value does it have? It sounds just like tarot. And while that is true, doesn’t all divination sound like tarot and other practices? Imagine an onion. Each has

distinct and unique layers. And if you haven’t picked up on the reference yet, I’ll just tell you. “Ogres are like onions” and divination is like an ogre. Therefore, divination has many layers. Tarot gives you one layer or piece of the pie, but there is still more onion (or pie) left out there to give you a whole picture.

Bibliomancy adds value to our divination practices, by simply opening another avenue of interpretation and manifestation. Sometimes we read tarot cards and say “OK universe that was funny, but like seriously?!?” Bibliomancy serves as a tool to divine further meaning on its own or with other divination practices.

APPROACH BIBLIOMANCY WITH THE SAME RESPECT AND REVERENCE TAROT GETS IN YOUR LIFE. If you don’t respect tarot, then treat bibliomancy the same way you would treat your deity.

How To Divine Using Bibliomancy (It’s super easy)

1. Get your Bible or book

2. Hold it to your third eye (forehead)

3. Close Your Eyes

4. Meditate on:

a. What you want to know

b. Why you want to know it

c. Ways in which the Source can help you

d. Ways in which you can help yourself (the most important part)

5. Open your Bible or book to any page (random)

6. Point your finger on the Bible or book

7. Open Your Eyes

8. Read the passage or even just the phrase to which your finger is pointing

9. Look up any unknown words

10. Notate the symbolism

11. For Bible users, I find it helpful to look up the book and why it was written to

gain further background on my chosen passage or phrase

12. WRITE DOWN YOUR READINGS. Our minds are fleeting and it is easy to

forget what God has been trying to drill into our stubborn heads since day 1. (PS.

below is what God has been trying to tell you :P)

Two Important Notes

• Using books to divine does cost energy as it does with tarot. Divination takes energy, so don’t forget to drink plenty of water and don’t do it on an empty stomach

• Try not to think about it too much. Because you can’t mix up the pages like you can with tarot, it is much easier to get a false reading because you’re trying to divine answers from a certain section. Don't do that. Let it truly be random.
