Let’s talk about intention in spellcraft!

Will + Focus = Intention

Will is your motivation for the spell. It encompasses WHAT you want.

Focus is WHY you want what you want.

The two together create intention, which is basically in a nutshell, what you want and why you want it.

How Intention Generally Works

So, we have probably all heard or read at one point or another that we need to “set our intention” for a spell. We do. But what exactly does that mean? Setting an intention is much like making a goal and doing things that will bring you closer to that goal. It is a soft concept, much like an idea. It is an idea with purpose behind it. When you are generating an intention for a spell you need to know:

1. What you want, AND

2. Why you want it

So how do we set an intention? It is completely up to you. Some people keep an intention journal, while others are comfortable transforming that intention into energy on the fly.

Intention setting guideline:

“I want to manifest _________, because ___________.

Energy and Intention

So, it is super great and all that you can know what you want and why you want it, but it gets a little confusing when you try to apply it to a spell. For example, let's say we want to manifest the perfect puppy. We set our intention: “I want to manifest a puppy, because I want something to love me unconditionally.”

Now what? This is where energy alchemy comes into play (yes, we are obsessed, and for good reason!). To apply intention to energy you must allow your intention to seep into your personal energy. You can then use your personal energy to do the spell, seek out your deities to transform that energy with a specific extra bit of fire power, or you can apply it to the metaphysical properties of the elements.
